Worst 5 moments of 2017

Image
2017 has given us some bad times to remember this Christmas, Let's take a look back at the 5 worst moments of 2017. 5. Labour losing the election  (well they all lost is was a hung Parliament). The Conservative Party (which had governed as a senior coalition partner from 2010 and as a single-party majority government from 2015) was defending a working majority of 17 seats against the Labour Party, the official opposition led by Jeremy Corbyn. Under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011, an election had not been due until May 2020, but a call by Prime Minister Theresa May for a snap election was ratified by the necessary supermajority in a 522–13 vote in the House of Commons on April 2017. May had said that she hoped to secure a larger majority for the Conservative Party in order to "strengthen [her] hand in [the forthcoming Brexit] negotiations". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_general_election,_2017 4. Dianne Abbott BANNED from immigration centre by Tories

Image
What are the Tories trying to hide?  Diane Abbott has written to the home secretary, Amber Rudd, to ask why she has been refused permission to visit the controversial Yarl’s Wood immigration removal centre despite at least a dozen requests over more than a year. The shadow home secretary said getting access to the centre in Bedfordshire, which has regularly seen concerns raised about inappropriate treatment of highly vulnerable detainees, was a necessary part of her job. Yarl’s Wood, where foreign nationals are detained before being deported, faced criticism last month after  the chief inspector of prisons, Peter Clarke, said  he had found increasing numbers of women held there despite evidence they were victims of torture, rape and trafficking. Clarke said he was concerned to find that the Home Office had refused to accept that rape came within the legal definition of torture. In July a Kenyan asylum seeker  won a court victory , with the ...

Tories say N Ireland isn't ready for gay marriage1

A UK government minister has insisted it’s “not the time” to discuss an equal marriage settlement in Northern Ireland – after calls to intervene. Gay Labour MP Ged Killen, who is married to a Northern Irish man, challenged the government on the issue in Parliament today. The ultra-conservative Democratic Unionist Party has previously employed peace process powers to veto equal marriage bills in Northern Ireland –  making it the only part of the UK that still bans same-sex couples from marrying. Making the outlook even more bleak for LGBT people, the region has also been without a functioning government since January, due to the collapse of power-sharing between the DUP and Sinn Fein. Mr Killen, the Labour MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West, challenged the UK government over the remaining inequality today – which means that couples who are legally married in other parts of the UK are treated as ‘civil partners’ in Northern Ireland. The MP explained t...

Why the Tories have a serious racist problem

Image
Last week the n****r in a woodpile MP had her whip restored whilst only a week later a racist Christmas card was sent to Jeremy Corbyn saying "Don't let Labour take away our WHITE Christmas". It was a dig at Dianne Abbott because she is black.  OK the card was allegedly sent by the BNP BUT it was in support of the Tory party by saying Don't let Labour take our white Christmas, in other words keep the Tory party in and stop Labour from winning another election.  It won't be the first time the racist BNP members have happily supported the Tory party.  BNP voters are actually bragging about having a far right PM which they never thought they would see in their lifetimes. They are proud of her "Anti Immigration laws and the fact she visits an anti LGBT church". "Its about time this country grew some balls and kicked the Ni****s out", one BNP voter said.  They also bragged and joked about left wing activists who were murdered like Jo Cox...

Today is International Migrants Day 2017

Image
Millions of women and men are leaving their homes in the search of work and education. Millions are on the move, because they have no choice, to flee war and persecution, to escape the vicious circles of poverty, food insecurity and environmental degradation. © Shutterstock.com / Giannis Papanikos Migration is a global phenomenon driven by many forces. These start with aspirations for dignity, safety and peace. The decision to leave home is always extreme, and, too often, the beginning of a dangerous, sometimes fatal journey. UNESCO is acting to advance the migration-related commitments of the  2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development . This starts with education, by promoting access to quality education for Syrian refugees, by facilitating recognition of education diplomas and qualifications. Through our  International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities , we promote a welcoming approach towards migrants at the local level. We are bolstering the...
